I AM the Skunkape Hunter...(hahah)

After completing this module, I found out things I didn't know! I didn't know that there were specific sources that worked better for research papers. I have always used the web basically no matter what. Now, I know that journals and magazines are better sources to use. I already knew that Wikipedia isn't a credible source for information. I would have never been able to distinguish between a scholarly or peer-reviewed journal and a non-academic journal. The video in Module 2 was helpful in assisting me in choosing which was which. I didn't know really how to use the library catalog, but now I do! It went more in depth on how to use Proquest, which will definitely come in handy in the future! I learned that you have to use the title of the journal, not the article in the E-Journal finder. I knew about all of the plagiarism rules and consequences already. Always cite the source and give the author credit! Although it was very long, it was definitely a helpful resource and tutorial. :)

  1. cool!, you and i learned basically the same things from this tutorial. Even though i do not enjoy the time it takes to cite a source, i will be sure to spot discrepancies in citations i find and am about to use. I too did not really know how to distinguish a peer-reviewed scholarly article from a scientific journal entry.... but i do now.

  2. Sounds like you learned a lot! Yeah Proquest is a really good site to use. It helped me with the annotated bibliagraphies that we did. A really good thing about Proquest is that it sites any source for you, which is awesome. If you use that site you don't even have to worry if you site something incorrectly.

  3. That video was seriously the longest thing I've ever paid attention to. I seems like we learned a lot of the same things - like journals and magazines are better tools for research. We live in an age where everyone just rushes to the internet whenever they need to find information. And learning about scholarly vs. peer-reviewed journals were completely new to me. I'm glad I took the time to do this assignment.
